Design and Performance prediction of Liquid based Tunable Cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antenna

Abstract In this paper, we report a liquid-based tunable Cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antenna (CDRA), whose resonance is varied by loading the cavity installed in CDRA with different volumes of liquid. The tunability investigated two types liquids, one lower permittivity (i.e.) oil and other higher water. loaded found to be over small frequency range 32MHz (5.76GHz 5.728GHz), whereas change water volume provides wide tuning 452MHz 5.308GHz). Further, antenna gain almost constant, around 5.1 dB, for oil-based CDRA. water-filled cavity, observed reduce 1dB as increased from 0 100%.
